Real Love Letter #57

3/17/2019

My dear wife…I love you.

As I learn and grow I am thankful to have you by my side. It’s not how many times we fall but how many times we get up. I have faith in us and in the power of love. Despite everything we’ve been through, one thing is undeniably true, and that is: I LOVE YOU!

I’m sorry for being such a knuckle head. When the smoke clears and the discord subsides, one thing remains: my desire to honor our vows no matter what.

I truly love you from the depths of my soul. I’ll continue to work on myself and my character as I correct some major fundamental flaws that prevent maximum manhood.

No excuses. I take full responsibility for my actions. I must do better. I must be better. You are the most important person in my life. Yet I continue to repeat the same mistakes.

Can you imagine how I’d be if I suffered from alcoholism and/or drug addiction? As I reflect and analyse, I think of these things. I think of my dad and grandpa and all the genetically dysfunctional genes they had and passed on to me and my brother.

I didn’t choose to be so competitive, combative, aggressive, rebellious, vindictive, violent, etc. Those were the genes that were passed on to me from the generations of men in my family. I’m fighting internal molecular DNA programming that makes up who I am and how I respond to adversity and other stimuli. I’m fighting it because I recognize it, I understand it, and I don’t like it.

Through the power of Jesus, I will ”turn off” the cells that create conflict. And I will generate and strengthen cells that create peace, love, and harmony. I will conquer the generations of genetic default and replace that entire structure with the one my Heavenly Father has designed for me.

Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not making excuses or blaming anyone for my actions. I’m responsible for my own actions. I’m just sharing with you my discoveries as I understand them and what I’m doing about it.

My Real Man Ministry class illustrates the pattern for success:
1) Acquire knowledge.
2) Develop a strategy.
3) Obtain victory
4) Give glory to God

Thank you for your constant love and support.
Thank you for all your understanding and patience.

I love you and value you with all my heart.
You are my gift from God.

Your Husband,
Steven
