Proverbs Chapter 1

As an added way to feel connected and close to each other, my wife and I have chosen to read the bible together. This month we’ll read Proverbs. December has 31 days. Proverbs has 31 Chapters. Perfect!

As I read Chapter 1, a few verses really stood out to me.

Verses 2-7 explain why serving the Lord is so important. Who doesn’t want to gain wisdom & discipline? Who doesn’t want to live a disciplined and prudent life? Fools! That’s who. I’m done being a fool. I’m done living in conflict & turmoil. I’m done fighting the system and the men in it.

My focus is to serve the Lord. To live my life according to the scriptures.

Verse 33 lists just a few blessings that are in store for me, and anyone else who chooses to follow the word of God.

Today I will focus on only today. I will keep my spirit in the word of God as I apply His teachings in my life. Today I will serve the Lord!

I absolutely love reading and discussing the scriptures with my wife. We are 900 miles apart, yet we feel so close. The love in our marriage is precious. And the love of the Lord is beautiful.

  1. Proverbs is certainly some heady reading, but it brings its own rewards with it. I never read Proverbs when I didn’t feel like every day I walked away feeling like I was taking something extra with me. And I can’t even imagine how great that must be for you sharing it with your wife. That’s very cool. So take care, and I’ll read you later.

  2. When I call Suzie I can hear her say,”hello”. Her voice activates the recording. Then she can press 5 to accept the call, or 7 to decline. Once she accepts, it costs $3.21. Regardless of how long we talk. The max is 20 min. I would love to talk to her all day long. But that would cost a lot. So we do “love chirps”. Thats when I call, hear her voice, then hang up. Sometimes I send her 7 or 8 love chirps in a row. Instead of saying “hello”, she’ll quickly say “I love you” or “hi handsome” or “MWAH” or she’ll give me a quick scripture to go look up. It’s just one more way for us to bridge the miles between us.

We also read at the same time, watch tv together, look at the moon at the same time, and just the other day we hung up the phone and then showered at the same time. Creativity is important. I love it.

    Thanks for reading and commenting.
